Kitchen Craft Chrome Electric/Manual Salt or Pepper Mill

I got 2 of these for my father-in-law as Christmas present. I'm using the Farringdon electric mills which cost only 10 pounds each. These were more expensive but they broke down time and again and had to be sent back to Amazon.co.uk many times.
Now they are still not working and I can no longer return these to Amazon.co.uk. I called up Kitchencraft's customer service and was told to post them back at my own expense with a letter to say what's wrong with it?
This is the worst product! I really regret my purchase of these products which cause me much inconvenience and embarassment!
